It was quite a bumpy landing. Mangalore airport is a table top airport, and that means less runway, and sometimes a bumpy landing. The journey from Bangalore city to the airport was no good either. Traffic jams, pollution and rains! But I was looking forward to my stay in Mangalore. After all, I invited by… Ah! Let’s keep that a suspense for now.
So, I reached the airport, there was a long queue at the baggage collection counter. I was really tired and sweaty, after all, I cannot adjust well to the hot and humid climate of the coast. I reach the arrival counter and someone screams “akkaaaaa”. And there she is, wearing jeans and a pink top, with pig tails, the very pretty, one and only – Varahi! I see the whole Karkera family waiting for me at the arrival. Finally, the three bloggers meet! We say our hi’s and hellos. And I just can’t stop pulling Varahi’s chubby cheeks.
Off we go, to the Karkera house. Mrs. Karkera says she’s prepared a nice mangaluru lunch. Slurp! I can’t wait to gorge on all the yummy dishes. Varahi and I talk about her chomp chomp munch munch blog post. And Raj says “you both need to talk about something other than food. ”
And it’s lunch time. I can smell chicken sukka and fish fry. A lavish lunch is laid on the table – kori rotti and chicken Gashi, makerel fry, chicken sukka, and shavige paysa. Varahi and I both shout together “attack” and we start chomp chomp munch munch on all the food. That was one of the best meals I had ever had!
Raj had promised to take me to the best ice cream parlor in Mangalore. He says even ideals and pubbas are not at par with the one he’s taking us to. Varahi and I make a list of all the ice creams we are going to eat – tiramisu, gudbud, chocolate and many more! And of course, once we reached the ice cream parlor, there was more of chomp chomp munch munch.
Then the Karkera family says “let’s go the beach”. Long time since I visited the panambur beach so I am really excited about the beach trip. Raj says “you three (kids), don’t tire yourself. We are going to sultan battery tomorrow.” (I can’t stop smiling because ..well… I am not a kid.. atleast not by age 😉)
The sunset is so beautiful! An orange ball of light slowly descending into the ocean – and then… I see something. A bright ball of light. It’s moving towards me, at a very high speed. And it’s growing bigger and bigger… Finally, it’s so bright that I can hardly see the ocean.
“Oh well, get up now! You don’t want to be late for college, do you?”
“That’s my mum’s voice! When did she ..?”
I open my eyes, and it’s my room. Oh gosh! I am really late today. It’s 6.45 already and my classes start at 7.30!!!!
